Illustration Friday: Three
I don't always participate in the Illustration Friday challenges, but I do have this very amusing drawing I did that is perfect for this week's challenge; illustrating the word "three." This drawing was done in graphite and colored pencil on an old, enameled metal table top, and is an update of Peter Paul Rubens' painting, The Three Graces.
Now, it used to be that women that were a little on the fuller figured size were characterized as "Rubenesque," because Rubens had a tendency to paint women with fuller figures. However, by today's standards, his women are remarkably svelte. So I just added a little more meat to the women in my drawing to make them more in line with the modern American version of "Rubenesque." I hope you appreciate the humor.
